Single and satisfied?
September 9, 2008
I read an article posted on a church bulletin from author “lady in waiting”. The article was about single women being satisfied while waiting on their soul mate. The article went on to ask “Is it possible for someone to be satisfied with being single if she is waiting”?
My answer would be it depends. I think it is definitely possible for someone to be satisfied with being single if the person is not lonely. For the people that associate the single life as being lonely it may be a little bit more difficult. Feeling lonely will only attract more feelings of being lonely. The feeling state of waiting is associated with the future. It signifies lack of whatever it is that you are asking for. Being in that state can lead to impatience, anxiousness and discouragement. None of these feelings would be present if you already had possession of what you are asking. You have to “call those things that are not as thought they were”.
The article stated “Stand firm on your faith and keep on asking Single Person, the righteous judge hears your prayer”. My question is could it be possible to be satisfied while you keep asking? This one can be tricky but my answer would be NO. If you think about the principles of ask, believe and you shall receive there would be no need to keep on asking.
If you ordered from a catalogue you wouldn’t keep placing the same order would you? No, as a matter of fact the only time you will even call to check on your order was if there was a delay. Isn’t that the same with our requests? Isn’t it when “we feel” that there is a delay and we aren’t getting something when expected that we keep asking? Doesn’t that represent doubt?
The good thing is God does not need to be reminded! If you believe it is yours then you know that man or woman will show up at the right time…not your time. The important thing that I’ve learned this week is “letting it go” and allowing it to come, what ever it may be. If you keep asking that symbolizes disbelief. When you let it go & don’t try everything flows in a beautiful & harmonious way!
